A Tokyo-based independent book label, torch press began making publications in December 2013 with an emphasis on art books and photobooks.
The word “torch” in our name takes on numerous shades of meaning; while it refers to a literal torch, it also represents a beacon or flame – the light of knowledge and culture. Light – one that stays close to you and guides you. Flame – one of the heart, unwavering, however small. At torch press, we move in pursuit of “fulfillment” – and together with contemporary artists, we strive to create pieces that illuminate what is within. We believe in books ― their joy, power, and potential ― while placing importance on finer details in book-making.
